Shot, developed, and printed by me. These four photos come together to encompass two parts of me which exist at the same time, a dialectic that I hold always. One part of that dialectic being that myself and my entire family are originally from the countryside. In fact, when I showed these photographs to my dad, he told me that they remind him of a series of photos my grandfather (who was also a photographer) took of my father and his two brothers playing in a field. I think the photos capture the feeling of finding your inner child, or the sense of freedom that one finds in nature — finding yourself to be so small and nature so vast, and understanding that both are a part of one another. The other part of myself has always wanted to escape the countryside, I've had one food in the city since I was around 13 years old. So it was only natural for me to capture this other faster paced part of my life and contrast the vastness of the city through its rigid infrastructure, linear perspective in design, and angular architecture with the innate innocence and ordinaryness of farmland.
